Our theme for 2018 is The year of Divine Peace. If you look at this topic in the natural, at first glance our theme may seem far fetch, but that is further from the truth. With threats of war, massive deportations, negativism from our leaders, Black lives matter, along with the Me Too Movement, here at Maranatha we dare to walk in Divine Peace. We speak the Peace of God, Jehovah Shalom over every situation that may come in our lives this year. We are declaring the Peace of God, the Peace from God and Peace with God!
In the Old Testament the word peace means Shalom. It means safe, well, happy, friendly, welfare, prosperity, rest, and good health. The root word shalom means safe in the mind, not worried, but safe in your body, estate, to restore, and all is well.
In the New Testament the word peace means Erirene. This means prosperity, to set at one again. To put it in the original state.
In the story of Gideon, (Judges 6) God reestablished peace for His people. At that time, the Jews were living in fear and worry of their enemies. In all of their confusion, God led Gideon to establish an army that would win back the land for the Jewish people. Compared to armies of their enemy, the Israelites were largely outnumbered, nonetheless God by his awesome power reclaimed peace for that Jewish community.
My friend, no matter what you are going through; health issues, bills, family problems, a feeling of helplessness and depression, please know that God has come to give you His divine peace and my best advice to you is to rest in His word.
